David was educated at University of Limerick graduating with a degree in Business Studies. He was admitted to the Roll of Solicitors in January 2009 and his practice to date has been predominantly civil litigation focused.

He regularly represents the interests of international insurers in connection with Defence litigation covering EL , PL and product liability risks in the retail, commercial, and construction sectors. He has considerable exposure acting for self-insured commercial organisations providing industry specific advice in connection with commercial and industrial disputes.

David also regularly acts for private clients in areas such as personal injury law, employment law and defamation law.

Dermot attended Crescent College Comprehensive in Limerick and the National University of Ireland, Galway (BA LLB). He qualified as a solicitor in 2004.

Dermot has years of ligation experience at all court levels.

Dermot has advised and represented clients in matters involving judicial review, commercial disputes, defamation, employment law and medical negligence.

He also has extensive experience in personal injury litigation, representing clients in matters involving significant injuries sustained in workplace, motor and public liability incidents.

Seamus Downes is the founding Partner of Downes Solicitors, and the Head of Commercial Litigation.

Seamus graduated from University College Cork with an Honours BCL Degree in 1986 and was admitted to the Roll of Solicitors by the Incorporated Law Society of Ireland in 1991. He is also admitted to the Roll of Solicitors in England and Wales.

Seamus has represented a diverse range of clients over many years acting for private individuals, companies, and insurers. Recently he has advised in relation to a number of niche commercial litigation areas, particularly disputes involving complex financial derivatives.

Marc attended Belvedere College in Dublin and graduated from UCD with a degree in Commerce, prior to obtaining a Postgraduate Diploma in Law in DIT.

After training with Downes Solicitors he was accepted onto the Roll of Solicitors in January 2012 and received a Diploma in Commercial Litigation from the Law Society in the same year.

Marc has been involved in several areas of practice including personal injuries litigation, debt recovery and licensing.

Since 2011, much of Marc’s work has been in the area of commercial litigation wherein cases have been promoted on behalf of clients for a range of issues including misselling of interest-rate swaps and overcharging of interest, as well as defending claims seeking summary judgment.

John is a consultant to Downes Solicitors, his key practice areas would involve advising on property and planning matters, company and commercial law, estate planning and commercial litigation.

John was educated De La Salle Kildare and Newbridge College prior to graduating from UCD with a BCL degree. He qualified as solicitor Michaelmas Term 1974.

John is a past member Council member of the Law Society, Irish Stock Exchange Regulatory Disciplinary Committee, Law Society Conveyancing Committee. He joined Downes Solicitors as a Consultant in 2011, having previously been in private practice for 37 years in a firm where he had been managing partner for 20 years.

John has a vast breadth of knowledge and experience.

Barry is a consultant to Downes Solicitors. Having graduated from the National University of Ireland, Galway (BCL) and qualified as a solicitor in 2004. Since then he has practiced as a general practitioner with specific emphasis on Commercial and Property Law.
